Our Attorneys

Kevin B. Rack, founder of the Firm, concentrates his practice in advanced estate planning and business succession planning, often collaborating with the client’s other advisors to develop and implement wealth preservation and asset protection strategies. The Firm also handles the estate and gift tax compliance related to wealth transfers to family members and charitable organizations. As both counsel and fiduciary, Mr. Rack is engaged on a daily basis with the administration of trusts and decedents’ estates, and he is among the “Best Lawyers in America” in the litigation of disputes involving estates and trusts as compiled by U.S. News and World Report.

Motivated by the challenges faced by his family during his mother’s 13-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Mr. Rack achieved recognition as a practitioner of “elder law” in the early years. Since the early 1990’s, he has contributed this knowledge and experience in legal matters affecting the elderly to his community by serving on the Governor’s Advisory Board on Aging, the Mayor’s Committee for the Aging, and the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter, in addition to numerous public speaking appearances on elder law topics.

Mr. Rack is the author of “The Elder Law Practice,” which appears as Chapter 1 of the Virginia CLE Foundation publication, Elder Law in Virginia, a research and reference source for Virginia lawyers.

Mr. Rack has been selected by his peers as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” every year since 2009, and has been named as one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine in the category of attorneys specializing in “Taxation, Trusts and Estates.” Mr. Rack has also been selected to the list of Virginia “Super Lawyers” for over ten years.
